DESCRIPTION/Blurb

Vampire politics are the worst!

Stuck in a city she doesn’t know and surrounded by enemies, Dahlia Sabin is thrust into the middle of a vampire conclave. Every Vampire Liege from across the country has descended upon New Orleans for what everyone knows is a trap.
When an ancient relic of power turns up missing and a high-ranking vampire is murdered, Dahlia is forced into a world of vampire power plays and dark magics in order to save her friend.

Dahlia, Patrick, and Dean must use everything in their arsenal to turn the tide of revolution, but turning enemies into allies is more difficult and dangerous than any of them knew.

Excerpt

“When was the last time a gathering of this type happened?” I asked Patrick, watching the muscles ripple beneath his alabaster skin, still marred by the scars caused by silver spikes when he’d been tortured in Faerie. I was getting used to them, almost not even seeing them anymore but when I did notice, a pang of guilt always twisted my stomach into knots. It wasn’t my fault, but I hadn’t saved him in time to stop it. For that, I would never forgive myself.

“Never.”

“Well, hell,” I snorted. “That can’t be good.”

“You said it,” Dean added, his voice a deep rumble in his chest.

“So, what’s our plan?” I asked, feeling the endorphins wearing off and the edge of anxiety making my blood pressure rise.

“Stay alive,” Dean snorted.

“We must demonstrate our power, our self-reliance, and resources to the Territorial Lieges. We must also show our superiority over the Lebensblut board. We must give the Territorial Lieges a reason to side with us or this entire endeavor will be fruitless. A rebellion of sorts is in order and this conclave is our best chance to gain support,” Patrick said, his voice harsh but firm. A sexy, gruff tone I recognized from that night in Crimson when he’d shoved me up against a wall, not knowing if he was going to kill me or kiss me. He’d kissed me and it had been one hell of a kiss.

“What you’re saying is that I shouldn’t hide who and what I am . . .”

“No, baby, no hiding this time,” Dean grumbled.

“Correct. No hiding. We want them to fear us. We want each of them to weigh their options and find Konyam and the board lacking.” Patrick brushed a strand of my long, blond hair from my face. His cool fingers brushed across my forehead and I shivered in the humid New Orleans air.

“Isidro will be there. We should have killed him when we had the chance,” I snapped. The board vampire had fled after their Necromancer had failed and I’d had to kill his progeny. I’d wanted to kill Isidro then but Patrick had been right. Killing the centuries old vampire in our territory would’ve brought the wrath of the Lebensblut board down on us. As much as I regretted Nova’s death, I’d had no choice after he’d betrayed us and fed information, no matter how innocently, to Isidro Grimaldi. I had too many people depending on me to leave a traitor alive. I’d also had to let the Lebensblut board and Isidro know that they couldn’t intimidate us and that I was not weak. Nova’s death accomplished all of this, no matter how much I regretted it.

Too often, I was still considered human and not worth notice. I’d had to be meaner, more ruthless, and deadlier than anyone else since I began this journey so many years ago. Now, it was who and what I was. I’d become the monster I’d wanted them to believe me to be. I couldn’t say I was sad about that either. It saved the lives of the people I loved.

“Yes, Isidro will indeed make an appearance or two. He wouldn’t miss an opportunity to demonstrate his superior intellect or remind us of our place. Especially after our last encounter with him.” Patrick angled his arms behind his head and propped himself up against the headboard. Without thought, I scanned the beautiful line of his body and my mouth watered with the remembered taste of his skin on my tongue. “All the Territorial Lieges and the Board will be there. They had no choice but to attend. Konyam threatened violence and destruction otherwise.”

“So watch our backs,” I said.

“Yep,” Dean replied.

“Use bloodshed strategically. Never hesitate if you think it’s worth your while or will further our cause,” Patrick added

“Message received. Blood is good.”

“Nice, Pat. There’ll be blood in the streets if you encourage her,” Dean teased.

“She hasn’t killed anything in months, not since Nova. I don’t want her to lose her touch.” Patrick smiled.

I giggled, rolling over to kiss him on the cheek. When I’d first met him, Patrick had never made a joke. Our lives were too complicated, too dangerous, and too fraught with plots for jokes. He was finding his way back to a life with us, where he could relax and be the man he had been almost a century ago. The man before vampire politics and death had consumed him. I liked this new Patrick.

IndieWritersReview Spotlight New Release Marilyn Jeulin’s Henry and Gracie!(Book review)

Helloooo everyone! I’m very excited that today IndieWriter’sReview is participating as a host for the new release from Author Marilyn Jeulin, Henry and Gracie! Check out my review and then check out the deets below on how to grab YOUR own copy!:)

BookReview: Brava! That is what I wanted to shout when finishing Henry and Gracie! A smart, fun look at contemporary romance between a couple Friends with Benefits. I enjoyed both characters and LOVED the verbal interplay between them. The story was well-written with a steady flow of humor, passion and romance! A great read that I recommend for readers 18 years or older. Truly looking for more from the very talented Ms. Jeulin!

http://bit.ly/HenryandGracie

Blurb:

Turning the big 3-0 isn’t easy. It’s even more difficult when well-meaning friends decide you need to stop being single and find your Prince Charming. Add in a series of never-ending bad blind dates and this is all too familiar territory for Gracie Marquez.

What Gracie’s friends don’t know is that she’s been in a nine year “friends with benefits” relationship with her best friend, the dashing Henry Huntingdon the Third. The pressure of turning another year older has Gracie questioning the nature of their relationship. Emotions run high and jealousy threatens to tear them apart. Has Gracie’s Prince Charming been in front of her eyes or has Henry been keeping her from finding true love?
Excerpt:

Henry
pulls away to lead me down the street toward Covent Garden. “So, Leticia strikes
again?” he asks, referring to my date before a short pause. I nod. “Who was it
this time?”

“A
guy from the city,” I answer, hoping he’s leaving it at that, though, knowing
Henry, he’s going to scratch at this piece of information until he’s managed to
get all the dirty details.
Henry’s
eyes widen and amusement sparkles in those mischievous blue eyes. “A guy from
the city,” he repeats before bursting into another fit of laughter.

“Yes,
Natesh,” I groan, refusing to continue looking at him.

“Someone
who works with her husband?” he presses on, having way too much fun. “Doesn’t
she know that you hate snobby types?” Henry asks, his voice taking on an
accusatory tone as I finally glance at him and smile. “From now on, you should
tell her to consult with me before fixing you up on any more blind dates.”

“Definitely,”
I agree, but the sarcasm in my voice makes him glance my way with a playful
smile on his lips before looking away. “He didn’t stop talking about his Mom.” I
sigh, going for a dramatic tone. “And how he likes the very best.”

“Wanker,”
Henry replies before letting out a loud chuckle. “Speaking of mothers,” he
starts as I throw my hands in the air.

Henry’s
been trying to get me to see my parents for the last few months. The way this
conversation always starts is by him saying those exact words: Speaking of
mothers. I don’t want him to meet my parents or my American friends in person. He’ll
charm them all and then my mother will fall in love with him and wonder why
we’re not a couple. Shouldn’t it be enough that they know he’s a really good
and close friend of mine?

“Not
yours,” he tells me, flicking at my nose with a teasing smile before he looks
ahead. “My mother said that if you’re still single by Christmas, we should both
go to visit her in Germany,” he tells me as we make a left and walk for a few
minutes until we find the small shop that sells crêpes and waffles.

“Who
is she going to pair us up with this time?” I ask, meanwhile my voice, full of
dread, is met by the amusement spreading quickly over his features.

Sometimes
I hate him.

“Get
this: her neighbor has a son and a daughter, both single,” he replies.

“No,
thank you. Remember Hans? I’m done with Germany,” I remind him and he laughs
harder, pulling me with him inside the cafe.

Henry’s
arm has maneuvered around me while we wait in line. My body’s against his as his
hand rests against my back. His lips brush lazily against my temple, sending my
pulse into overdrive.

I
force my eyes on the menu board, ignoring the way his lips brush against my
ear. “It’s too bad you’re out of service,” he says, changing the subject. His
voice is lethal: deep and soft. It makes me melt like vanilla ice cream under
hot fudge. The weakness returns to my knees and my mind goes into a lustful
haze. However, it doesn’t take long for something to stir me out of it and let
the full weight of his words fall on me.

“What?”
I ask, trying hard to escape the obscene look in his eyes, which makes my body
hum with renewed energy.

“Well,
I’d rather eat the Nutella off your body.”

A rock band. A reality show. A recipe for disaster.
Falling in love with your best friend is one thing. Falling in love with a rock star is entirely another. Put those two things together, add in airing your new relationship on reality TV, and you’ve got one volatile mix just waiting to explode.
Lily Montgomery’s life has veered in a direction she never expected. She’s struggling to find her balance after her romance with rock star Dane Archer propelled her into the latest headlines. Her dreams of a successful writing career are fading in the bright lights of unwanted fame. She needs to figure out how to help Dane and his band achieve their goals without losing sight of her own.
Easier said than done…
As The Void’s tour continues, Lily faces family drama, relationship trials, dangerously dedicated fans, and zealous paparazzi. Between that and figuring out how to spin the tabloid-worthy relationship developing between the band’s brooding bassist, Keith Connors, and her conservative roommate, Sydney Ward, Lily has more weight on her shoulders than she ever imagined.
But her choice has been made. For the sake of love and her own reputation, she will have to find her rhythm and rise to each challenge. If she doesn’t, she’ll lose everything…and the whole world will be watching.

| EXCERPT |

It took Lily a moment to register the number of people lining both sides of the walkway from the base of the booth’s stairs to the tunnel leading to the green rooms.
Metal barricades had been set up to keep the people back. A couple of the venue’s security team members stood in the walkway to ensure the more eager fans didn’t attempt to scale the barriers. Lily figured the crowd was waiting for the band.
But that couldn’t be right, she thought. This wasn’t the passage leading backstage.
“Lily!” they cried. “Lily, can I have your autograph?”
“Can I get a photo, Lily?”
She tried to mask her disbelief as the fans spotted her and started shouting, holding phones, Sharpies, and all manner of things over the barricades towards her. The noise escalated the longer she stood there next to Barney without moving. She forced herself to smile.
The walkway looked endless. Anxiety had her rubbing a hand over her stomach. She saw Spence filming her from the far end of the walkway, capturing everything for the show.
“I guess I’ll be signing a few autographs?” Lily said to Barney.
She hadn’t meant for it to come out as much like a question as it did. She handed her notebook and pen to Barney.
“That isn’t a good idea,” he said. “There isn’t enough security. The venue team didn’t plan for this.”
“Neither did I,” she replied. “Just a few, okay? I can’t have people posting that I was too stuck-up to sign a couple of autographs.”
His mouth thinned in disapproval before he nodded. He followed only a foot behind her as she did her best to make her smile look more genuine and approached the first fan.
The next fifteen minutes were a blur of signing, taking photos, and shaking hands. The crowd wasn’t shy about getting right in her face, eager for her attention. Her head pounded from the strain of incessant smiling and worrying that someone might try to stab her in the eye with their pen because they thought she was going to break up The Void. It was a relief to discover that everyone seemed genuinely supportive of her and thrilled to meet her. She wasn’t sure that made this any easier.
When they were about halfway down the path, Barney brought a hand to his earpiece and moved his head to talk into the mic at his cuff. Lily glanced at him as she signed another autograph. She secretly hoped his conversation was a reason to get her out of this. She didn’t know how the band did it night after night.
In the next instant, someone hauled her off her feet.
A man’s mouth pressed against hers.
Knowing it couldn’t be Dane, she tried to struggle. Her arms were pinned to her sides. A tongue ran along the seam of her tightly sealed lips, making her want to gag. It felt like the shocking assault lasted forever.

Then she was abruptly released. She fell hard. Her left ankle twisted under her at an awkward angle that sent pain shooting up her calf. Her teeth clacked together as she hit the ground.

BOOK REVIEW
I always look forward to the next Raine Thomas book! I was so excited to revisited these former characters and see what’s new with them in front and behind the camera! Just as with the first in the series Imperfect Harmony…Unsteady Rhythm (House of Archer Book 2) was a fresh and timely read! Just like the headlines and stories of my real life favorite celebrities pulled from the savvy tale-alls…I became pulled into the world of Lilly, Dane, Keith and Sydney. Fully wrapped up in the romance and the drama of the day to day details of reality TV. I believe Ms. Thomas provided a perfect mix of what titillates audiences with the contrasting sensationalism of the entertainment business and the intimate interplay of the couples as they find their place in the fast paced world of Show business.

Well written and fully engrossing…Unsteady Rhythm (House of Archer Book 2) is definitely a must read! If you haven’t started the series then hurry and nab book 1! Recommended for readers 17+.

ABOUT THE BOOK
A rock band. A reality show. The opportunity of a lifetime.
As the front man for The Void, lead singer Dane Archer has yet to achieve the success he craves. He hopes that will change when he’s approached about filming a reality show called House of Archer. All he and the band have to do is get some juicy footage while on their upcoming tour.
The problem? Archer’s life is a snoozefest. His parents are happily married, he’s never done drugs or gotten arrested, and he doesn’t get into fights with his band mates. He knows the show will fizzle and die before it ever hits the air, taking his dreams of worldwide fame along with it.
Unless…
If Archer can convince his best friend Lily to be on the show, he’s sure they’ll get all the compelling footage they need. Her life is filled with drama. Hell, she’s practically a reality show in her own right.
Archer’s willing to do whatever it takes to get Lily on board, even if it means charming her into being more than just friends. But when he finds himself falling for her, his seemingly simple plan gets complicated. Soon the line between reality and Reality TV begins to blur, leaving him wondering if achieving his dreams is worth all it might cost him.
SNEAK PEAK
“What are…Dane? What’s going on?” Lily asked as he climbed into the SUV behind her and closed the door.
“We’re going to talk.”
“I don’t want to talk.”
“That’s too damn bad.”
Her irritation disappeared in a blink of shock. He hadn’t infused the words with any heat, but it certainly wasn’t the response she had expected.
Neither of them said another word until Barney had seated himself behind the wheel. “Do you need anything before we depart, Mr. Archer?” he asked.
“No, Barney. Thanks.”
Barney nodded and pressed the button to raise the privacy shield between the front and back seats. Once they were moving, Dane turned back to Lily. Since she was glowering out the window, she saw his expression in the reflective surface. For some reason he looked amused over her behavior.
“Lily, nothing happened with Camilla,” he began.
She shrugged. “Why would I care?”
“Because I kissed you yesterday.” When she didn’t reply, he continued, “Do you really think so little of me that you believe I’d go from kissing you like that to pursuing another woman?”
She huffed out a sigh and finally met his gaze. “Of course I don’t think little of you, Dane. Honestly, I don’t know what to think right now.”
He looked relieved that she was speaking with him in a calm manner rather than chewing his head off. It made her regret going out of her way to avoid and ignore him all morning. She had been acting like a middle schooler. He was her best friend. He deserved to have his say.
“Look, Lily, I know I screwed up last night. I should have mentioned I had that interview so you knew to wait for me. I was more concerned about keeping Camilla happy so she would give the band some good press than I was about hunting you down to talk about us.”
She bit her bottom lip and looked down at the notebook she was clutching in her lap. “It’s okay, Dane. I—”
“No, it’s not okay.” He ran a hand through his hair as though trying to find the right words to give her. “You have no idea how important you are to me, Lily. You’re the best friend I’ve ever had. You’re beautiful and funny and I know I can tell you anything. But I haven’t told you the truth about how I feel about you. I want more than just your friendship. I want a shot at a real relationship with you.”
Her heart ached more with every word he spoke. “Oh, Dane.”
His expression fell. “What? What’s wrong?”
Taking a deep breath, she said, “Johnathan asked me to marry him.”
The words seemed to knock the wind right out of him. She actually saw him flinch as though suffering from a blow. He shook his head and cleared his throat a couple of times before he spoke again.
“What did you tell him?” he managed to ask.
“Well…I told him yes.”
