ABOUT THE BOOK
In the grand scheme of things, Sheridan Malcolm has it all: a nice quiet life, a loving family and a successful contracting business. But beneath the pitter patter of little feet, thoughts of his past intrude upon his peace of mind. There is still a missing piece to the puzzle, one that he is not sure he is ready to face.
Amira Malcolm stands by her husband in any endeavor he opts to undertake. When he is called away on business, her world is thrust into utter chaos. Her friends tell her they’ve seen Sheridan with other women and Amira doesn’t know what to think. Discovering she is pregnant, she tries to put the rumors to rest for the sake of her marriage and her unborn child.
The pregnancy news comes as a shock to Sheridan, especially when the dates aren’t adding up. And with the accusations his wife is throwing his way, Sheridan starts to ask questions of his own. His mother always told him to keep his friends close and his family even closer. Could it be that someone from his past is sabotaging his future and if so, how far will they go to ruin his life?
Winston sat on the edge of the bed staring down at his honey beauty. He’d met Jasmine the day he’d been promoted from a low life programmer to lead security analyst. Other than the fact that his new job allowed him to do what most people considered illegal, she’d been the only other perk of the promotion.
The first day he saw her he’d felt an immediate attraction. He couldn’t keep his eyes off of those legs that went on for days. He remembered licking his lips as she sashayed past his office door. She’d been wearing a blue and white floral dress that stopped just above her knees. The material swayed with each step. He knew then that she was destined to be his.
Their relationship started off strictly platonic. She was the boss’s assistant so Winston decided to get a feel for her before asking her out. The last thing he needed in a new job was to ruffle anyone’s feathers.
Every morning Jasmine went out of her way to make sure he got fresh coffee. She even started stopping by when she headed out to get lunch just to make sure he didn’t want her to pick him up anything. The stopping by eventually turned to lunch dates and the next thing Winston knew, he’d asked to see her outside of work.
They’d decided early on to keep whatever this was evolving into on the hush hush. Although she didn’t work for him, they worked in the same corner of the office. They were adults capable of having a relationship without bringing drama into work and surprisingly so far, outside of an emotional day or two, the situation panned out well.
“What’s on your mind?”
So absorbed in his thoughts that he hadn’t realized that Jasmine was awake, he stared down into those mysterious eyes of hers. “You.”
“Really?” She blew a kiss at him, running a hand up his arm.
“Yeah. You know, it’s not fair that you get the day off and I have to go to work.”
She wrapped her fingers around his tie, pulling him to within inches of her lips. “You can always call in sick.” Just as the last whisper of words escaped her lips, she planted a soft wet kiss on his.
Winston slipped his tongue between her parted lips, savoring the warmth passing from her to him. He encircled her waist, pulling her from beneath the sheets to straddle him on the bed. Realizing if they continued like this he’d never get to work he drew back, ending the string of passion between them.
“I have work that needs to get done. But how about this, I’ll try to sneak out a little early and we can finish this then?” Winston gave her a devilish grin.
In return for his seductive smirk, Jasmine kissed the tip of his nose, his chin, his cheek and eventually darted her tongue in his ear. “You want anything in particular for dinner?” She whispered, her warm breath tickling the hairs on the back of his neck.
“I can’t think about dinner right now. Dessert’s looking a little too good.”
Jasmine slid off of his lap and crawled back into bed. “The sooner you get to work, the sooner you get dessert.”
Winston took the hint. Getting up from the bed, he kissed her once more before heading out the door. He’d warned her about asking for trouble and with the look she’d shot his way, tonight she’d get a lesson in trouble she wouldn’t soon forget.
