IndieWritersReview’s Review of Death’s Hand by S.M. Reine

perf5.000x8.000.inddHello everyone! I wanted to come back and give you a brief review of another awesome S.M. Reine reads! Recently I shared my thoughts on Ms. Reine’s newest release Sacrificed in Shadow. I had been drawn to the new release because the story brought back some of my favorite characters from Sara’s Wolf series. But within that read I was introduced to Elise Kavanagh: Demon Hunter!:O)
So I decided to go back and read the Descent series that stars Elise and Witch (Aspis) James Faulkner.

I’m Hooked ya’ll:O)

Blurb: Policing relations between Heaven, Hell, and Earth is messy and violent, but Elise Kavanagh and James Faulkner excelled at it– until coming across a job so brutal that even they couldn’t stand to see one more dead body.

Now they’ve been pretending to be normal for five years, leaving their horrific history a dark secret. Elise works in an office. James owns a business. None of their friends realize they used to be one of the world’s best killing teams.

After years of hiding, something stirs. Bodies are vanishing. Demons scurry in the shadows of the night. A child has been possessed.

Some enemies aren’t willing to let the secrets of the past stay dead.

The First 3 books in the Descent series is Free on Amazon!

Review

After you have done numerous reviews, it becomes difficult to say why you truly enjoyed a book without sounding as if you said it all before.

So let me say this, Death’s Hand was incredible! It was so engrossing and full action with so many thrills— that it grabbed me at the beginning and would not let go. I loved Elise! I am always drawn to strong, capable, independent female characters and if they know how to kick butt- well that’s a plus:O)

Elise is all of these attributes combined, plus she does have a slight vulnerability about her; as if she isn’t trying to be the hero, in fact she is an anti hero:) She would like nothing more than simply to live her life quietly, run her business, have her clients(the demon run businesses of course) to pay their bills on time so she doesn’t have to kill them or vice versa. That’s all she wants. But no-o-o– someone or thing has to disturb that; in this instance a rogue necromancer who is striving to bring forth a deadly demon who is bent on taking over (or destroying the world). Now of course that does have Elise’s attention and she along with her handsome in a “professor sort of way” Aspis “powerful witch” (basically the ying to her yang:O) they set out to handle the problem.

But evil cannot leave well enough alone and actually puts James in danger. That is not acceptable and Elise has no choice but to come out of retirement.

I love the cast of characters funny Betty, handsome and noble Anthony and of course James. In the story, they(James and Elise)  are partners, almost like family. But oh, how I so wish they were together, although Anthony(Her love interest)  is sweet, but James. Love him:O)

I always picture James as a younger, fitter Giles (From Buffy The Vampire Slayer)(okay I do have a slight crush on him—sue me?:O)

But alas it is not to be in this read, but I do have hope!

Fast paced plot, action, thrills please do yourself a favor and pick this read up!

GUYS UPCOMING SOON! I do have some awesome guests and fabulous tours coming in September, so please stay tuned!
