Sammy Witness website

Sammy Witness is an accomplished singer-songwriter who blends folk and indie-rock stylings with jazz-tinged vocals to weave a sound at times reminiscent of Alanis Morissette, Butterfly Boucher and Katie Costello but altogether uniquely her own.

Originally from South Florida, she began performing live at the age of 12 and by the time she was 14 she had a regular weekly gig at the Funky Buddha Lounge in Boca Raton. She was a vocal major at the Bak School of Arts in West Palm Beach, an International Songwriting Competition finalist, and earned a degree in Music Production Technology from Valencia University. Recently, she traveled extensively and began to lay roots in both Seattle, Washington and New York City. Most recently she spent time in Crested Butte, Colorodo working on a film project and Boston recording her debut full-length album Tiger Lily.

In the summer of 2011 Sammy released her Youtube exclusive EP Contrast & Crickets featuring videos of her performing across the country. Since then she ran a successful Kickstarter project raising over $2,400 to fund the next step in her career. Tiger Lily features an assortment of new songs as well as some retooled songs which originally debuted on Contrast & Crickets.

“As far as I’m concerned, traveling is the only way to discover what opportunities are out there,” Sammy said in a recent interview. “I’ve been fortunate to have the freedom to explore every possible opportunity and draw inspiration from both the landscapes and the people I’ve interacted with. Tiger Lily is an ode to all my tumbleweed friends blowing across the world.”

Sammy Witness’ debut full-length album Tiger Lily is the follow-up to her Winter Sessions EP released in 2009 and continues to explore themes of acceptance, growth and the search for unconditional love. It will be released independently in early 2013 along with tour dates across the country to be announced.
