The HerStory Anthology will be released in March…and I am honored that I will be one of the contributors to this incredible collection!

HerStory: Fiction Honoring Women’s History Month is a collection of Flash Fiction and Short Stories from today’s top authors featuring female characters that exemplify strong strength of mind, body, and character. Some of these tales are based on real people while others are purely fictional. However, all are standing up for themselves and what they believe in.
This book is coming March 2013 from Pagan Writers Press
My HerStory
I truly am honored that I am one of the authors contributing to this collection, I am excited and thrilled to do my part in honoring a great woman in history as we honor women history as a whole in March….
My HerStory is based on the true life events of an African American Cowgirl called StageCoach Mary (Mary Fields)
Musings of an African American Cowgirl

Mary Fields a.k.a. Stage Coach Mary was the first African-American woman employed as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, and the second American woman to be employed by the United States Postal Service.
Born a slave in Tennessee in 1832, Mary went on to become a well loved icon for many who met her. She always made an impression whether it was due to her unflinching loyalty to protect and care for the Ursuline Nuns who became her family, or for her reportedly bad temper that resulted in at least one documented duel.
Mary was a woman who lived by her own rules, in a society that stated that due to her being a woman and a African-American, this was not allowed. But remaining true to herself and those she loved, Mary was also an entrepreneur, owning several business, which was a novelty during her time.
Mary Fields stood 6ft tall and weighed 200 pounds, she had a penchant for cigars and whiskey, and a gun always strapped under her apron…but although she could give a cussing freely, she gave love just as freely…
Mary was an innovator, and a maverick…
She was many things, but once encountered, she was never forgotten.

I love strong heroines! It really annoys me when a heroine is weak and allows other people to walk over her.
